Study visit of Anamarija Ranković at the WRO Art Center

Autor: Culture Zone Wrocław

Within the framework of the AIR Wro programme, we have been supporting the members of broadly defined creative community in terms of mobility since 2014. Every year we expand our activities, at the same time opening up to new forms of activity of artists and cultural professionals. The "job shadowing" study visit of Anamarija Ranković at the WRO Art Center is therefore another project which will enable the exchange of practices between Wrocław and European cultural operators, as well as the next stage in the development of cooperation with Novi Sad, the European Capital of Culture 2021.

Ranković is the director of the Institute for culture of Ruthenians in Vojvodina (Serbia). She graduated from Media Engineering and Management at the University of Novi Sad. She gained her experience working as an editor and presenter at Serbian public radio, where she dealt with issues related to the impact of Serbia's integration with the European Union on the Ruthenian minority. As an independent journalist, she worked for Ruthenian magazines and portals: "Руске слово", "МАК", "Календар" and "Minority news". Since 2011 she has been the Vice-President of the Media Board of the National Council of the Ruthenian National Minority in Serbia, since 2016 she has been a member of the Board of the Ruthenian Journalists Association (NAR), and since 2017 a member of the Board of the Journalism Institute "Ruska Slovo".

During the two-week study visit in Wroclaw in July this year, Ranković will focus on getting to know the daily practices of the WRO Art Center team, mainly in the field  of cultural project management methodology, development of the original art mediation programme, multifaceted work with the viewer and the concept of "Active Art Archive". During this time, she will also meet with the audience of WRO Art Center and give a guided tour of the exhibition of the 4th Best Media Arts Graduation Projects Competition (11.07, 17.00).

During her stay in Wrocław, Ranković will also visit other local cultural organisations and institutions, including the Bente Kahan Foundation and the Association Żółty Parasol, to learn about their practices and exchange experiences in art mediation, educational projects addressed to the youngest audiences, and audience building. Culture Zone Wrocław, in turn, will present its activities under the Neighbouring and the Microgrants programmes.

The study visit is organised by Culture Zone Wrocław in collaboration with the "Novi Sad 2021 – the European Capital of Culture" Foundation and the WRO Art Center.
