Competition for NGO: we know the results!

Autor: Culture Zone Wrocław

We know the results of the 6th edition of the competition for NGO! The jury decided to support two projects from several submitted in the competition. „Pogłosy Wrocławia” ("Reverbs of Wrocław") is a project submitted by the OP ENHEIM; the second one was submitted by the Wersja Foundation and it consists of a continuation of the research carried out by Judith Röder, who was invited to Wrocław earlier this year thanks to the cooperation with Wersja and BWA Wrocław.

Both projects refer to urban culture, which is the main focus for AIR Wro. Both of the artists invited to Lower Silesia will refer to the issues such as the memory and history of the city, its identity and transformation, as well as the restoration of certain parts of the layers of the city’s tissue – the ones that disappear and the ones that are replaced.

Anna Kasperska, invited to Wroclaw by Kama Wróbel from OP ENHEIM, decided to recall and reimagine the sounds that once filled the city walls, rooms, rooms and entire urban structures. "Reverbs of Wroclaw" will be implemented in three historic buildings of our city: the OP ENHEIM  house, the House of the Ladies of Trzebnica in Wrocław (Romanesque House in Wrocław) and the Monopol Hotel. As a result of Kasperska's activities, a sound installation will be created, which we will presented at the OP ENHEIM.

Anna Kasperska is a young audiovisual artist. A graduate of the Faculty of Media Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and Intercollegiate Multimedia specialization at the FCUM. She also completed the Studio Trial, directing course at the Wajda School. She also studied at the Department of Visual Communication at the Universitat der Künste in Berlin. Laureate of the Panavision award in the Papaya Young Directors 2017 competition. Scholarship holder of the Minister of Education and the city of Warsaw. The author of documentary and feature films: "Together, Written Separately", "Farewell to Summer", "Bridge", "Between" and sound installations. The installation "Reverbs of Wroclaw" is to be a continuation of the artist's research project, which was the first instalment of the project in Warsaw.

Thanks to cooperation with the Wersja Foundation, Judith Röder will return to Lower Silesia in order to continue the research she conducted earlier this year. The main motive, identified by Röder during her residency, is the process of disappearing of certain spaces – as a result of historical and social changes. The so-called "Recovered Territories", very often analysed by the artists working in the Lower Silesia region, will be even more visible as Röder is using mostly analogue filming tools. The artist wants to capture the transformation of space in Miedzianka, Gostków, Sokołowsko and Wrocław - all in cooperation with the curator of the residency, Joanna Kobyłt.

Judith Röder is a visual artist from Daun in Germany. In the years 2002-2005 she was studying the art of stained glass in Munich, and in 2010 she graduated from the Institute for Ceramic and Glass Art at the Koblenz University of Applied Sciences. In her works, she uses natural materials, combining them with new technologies. However, glass always occupies a central position in her art, becoming both a screen for ephemeral projections and a place for recording traces of processes that escape sensual perception.
