The fourth edition of the international conference AIR Wro Talks is coming soon. On 28th and 29th March in Wroclaw you will have an opportunity to talk about the impact of Brexit on the European community, effective solutions to combat hate speech and the role of national institutions promoting culture in present-day world.

The main theme of this year's edition of AIR Wro Talks 4.0 are boundries – outstanding guests, artists and representatives of numerous European cultural institutions will talk about their many different definitions at panels, lectures and workshops. During the events accompanying the perception of borders, the artists from Wrocław will also present their perception of borders. Artists from Wrocław will also present their perception of borders during accompanying events.

The conference is primarily a meeting of artists, organisers and participants – all of us who shape culture in Europe. The issues that we will raise during the fourth edition, however, will include topics of significance not only for the cultural community, but also for the whole society – says Berenika Nikodemska, the organiser of AIR Wro Talks 4.0.

Brexit: a European matter

One of the discussions coincides with the planned date of "Brexit". During a special panel, the invited guests will consider whether this is an exceptional phenomenon or rather a certain tendency. The discussion will address the significance of this event for Europe and the world and the impact it may have on international cultural collaboration.

Who promotes Greenland?

During the next panel, the experts will discuss whether in the 21st century the promotion of culture defined by officially defined state borders is still relevant. They will examine the responsibilities of institutions which are to promote culture in other countries. The discussion will bring together representatives of national cultural institutes in Europe, who deal with international collaboration on a daily basis.

We say NO hate speech

Apart from discussion panels, the AIR Wro Talks 4.0 will also include workshops. One of them will address the issues of identity and identification of different groups exposed to stereotyping and stigmatization in Poland. The participants will learn to recognize and distinguish discrimination, racism and hate speech, as well as to understand the links between these phenomena. They will reflect on the limits of freedom of speech the consequences that hate speech brings.

The conference organised by the Culture Zone Wrocław as part of the AIR Wro programme is the only event of this kind in Poland. International meetings will be held on 28th and 29th March at Barbara (Świdnicka 8B) and other venues in Wrocław.
