Hubert Kostkiewicz joins AIR Wro Talks 3.0.

Hubert Kostkiewicz, cultural animator and musician, for many years active in Wrocław, will moderate a panel discussion "Building a civil society through culture" within the framework of AIR Wro Talks 3.0. Kostkiewicz will join Mieke Renders from Trans Europe Halles, Szilvia Nagy from LOCOP and Philipp Dietachmair form European Cultural Foundation.

Discussion will be held on the 16th of March 2018 in Barbara (Świdnicka Street 8B). You can join us after registration.

Hubert Kostkiewicz – between 1992-2001, a journalist of Radio Zachód in Zielona Góra. After moving to Wrocław, for almost 15 years he co-managed an independent social and cultural initiative Centrum Reanimacji Kultury (CRK). In 2010, on behalf of the CRK collective, he received an award for the Lower Silesian cultural animator. For over 20 years he has been organising concerts and other events in Poland and abroad. He invites artists and activists from around the world, and animates local communities, creating conditions for their mutual penetration and cooperation. He worked for the Avant Art Festival, music scene at the New Horizons Festival and the Berlin-Wrocław series of events In Between Festivals. He collaborates with Culture Zone Wrocław (formerly the Festival Office Impart 2016), Proza club, Centre for Artistic Activities Firlej, Miser Art – space of culture in the labyrinth of exclusion, Infopunkt Łokietka 5 in the Nadodrze district of Wrocław and the Nomada Association. As a guitarist of the band KURWS, he played several hundred concerts in Europe and Asia. He played improvised music with such artists as Łukasz Rychlicki, Piotr Pawlak, Piotr Zabrodzki, Macio Moretti, Piotr Łyszkiewicz and Eryk Wong. He has also given lectures and guided non-curatorial tours as part of exhibitions at BWA Wrocław gallery and Wrocław Contemporary Museum, published in such magazines as "Rita Baum" and "Biuro" (press body of BWA Wrocław) and participated in an artistic residence in Arnhem, the Netherlands and in numerous study visits in grass-roots socio-cultural centres throughout Europe. He is interested in self-organisation practices, as well as the impact of cultural events on creating social bonds.
