March issue of the “Guide” is now available!

We are well-aware of the fact that it is hard to navigate the onslaught of news about new restrictions and their loosening, which keep being announced seemingly all the time. But that’s why you have us – every month we compile all the information about culture in Wrocław, with a handy event calendar to guide you through what is happening in the city.

This year, February brought us a thaw – not only the weather kind, caused by rising temperatures, but also a cultural one. When the government announced the opening of museums and art galleries at the start of the month, nobody expected long lines and such great attendance. When in mid-February, the ranks of half-opened institutions were joined by cinemas, theatres and concert halls, the tickets for the long-awaited concerts and screenings sold out in minutes. It was the first time in many months when people could sit in a seat and watch a play or a film in such an atmosphere – even though only art house cinemas and some theatres decided to open up. This cultural siege only proves how sorely missed culture is and how much we need it in our everyday lives.

Using culture to the fullest requires a “Guide” – this time around, we encourage you to take a look at On the waves of art article on the latest exhibitions and art displays in Wrocław. Apart from that, we interviewed the new director of the Wrocław Contemporary Museum, we took a closer look at the artistic residency programme for Belarusian artists and the outcomes of fashion workshops at Komuny Paryskiej 45. We also have some long-awaited new things in store – over the course of the upcoming several issues, we will be able to enjoy posters and columns by Joanna Plizga – an architect and illustrator, as well as explore issues concerning ecology and the environment. The latter comes thanks to the “Eco-glossary of a cultured person”, where the invited experts will deliberate about key issues from the area of ecological culture.
