Natalia "Yerzak" Jerzak, pattern-designer and screen printer, will go for a residency in Berlin in May. Designer was chosen within the framework of a call organised jointly with Berlinerpool Arts Network.

Jerzak is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Wrocław in the field of graphics. Scholarship holder of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage for her master’s thesis “Contemporary printing on fabric in Poland”. She draws, designs and prints to dress people in her patterns. Initiator of the “SitoOgrodnicy” project in MiserArt, which is a screen printing workshop created together with people who have a homelessness episode in their biography. September 2017 the collection of her fabrics entitled “Polish summer”, printed with SitoOgrodnicy, was presented at the Polish Pavilion at the London Design Fair. Following Wanda Telakowska, her goal is to create socially engaged art. Under the nickname “zwJerzak”, she creates illustrations for, among others, the “Szosa” cycling magazine. Jerzak is a sport enthusiast.

The designer goes to Berlin to explore the possibilities of further development of the “SitoOgrodnicy” initiative, researching the best practices and presenting her initiative to local communities in Berlin. Jerzak is primarily interested in processes related to involving people with homelessness into culture-creating processes and activating them through joint activities. The residence in Berlin will be a great opportunity to exchange experiences, present the achievements of “SitoOgrodnicy” and MiserArt, as well as create a network of new contacts in the creative environment.

Residency in Berlin is organised with Berlinespool Arts Network within the framework of Berlin Sessions Residency.
