We know the results of the spring’s open call for Culture of Mobility programme!

We are announcing the second round of results of this year's Culture of Mobility programme! Participation in the international ceramic symposium Ceramic Laboratory 2021 in Latvia, competition and representation of the city of Wroclaw as part of The Venice Glass Week in Venice, production of the Polish-German exhibition in Dresden and a trip to Rome for the scientific conference Polish-Italian artistic contacts 1871-1939 – these are further foreign initiatives, during which representatives of culture staff from Wrocław and Lower Silesia will present their work to the international audience.

In the second deadline alert for Culture of Mobility programme that lasted from April 18 to June 15 this year, we waited for proposals of participation in foreign projects as part of artistic residencies, study visits, art reviews, conferences or other events and projects, thanks to which artists from Wrocław and Lower Silesia have the opportunity to develop their skills, present their activities and build international relations. In 2021, we introduced a significant change: applications for networking trips aimed at acquiring partners are also accepted!

Whose trips are supported this time?

Joanna Opalska-Brzecka, visual artist, graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław in the field of Art and Design of Ceramics, and Weronika Surma, artist, sculptor, ceramist, curator, academic teacher at the Department of Ceramics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław will go to Daugavpils in Latvia at the beginning of July , where one of the most important symposia of contemporary ceramics is organized in Europe - Ceramic Laboratory 2021 as part of the International Ceramics Biennale at Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Center. The organizers provide the organization of two exhibitions with the works of symposium participants, admission of three objects to the Mark RothkoArt Center collection and presentations of participants during scheduled lectures.

Natalia Komorowska, a Wrocław-based designer specializing in glass and ceramics, will take part in the Venice Glass Week HUB Under35 competition in September and the finalists' exhibition at Palazzo Loredan in the heart of Venice. The week-long trip will be an opportunity to meet and exchange experiences with other artists of international origin during one of the most important glass art events in the world. Including getting acquainted with the oldest technique of producing glass mirafiola.

Urszula Śliz, abstract artist, doctor of art in the field of fine arts, exhibition curator, representative of the generation of artists who started their creative path at the beginning of the 90s, at the invitation of Kulturverein Alte Feuerwache Losechwitz in Dresden, will take part in the author's exhibition. From October 22 to November 20, you will be able to visit an exhibition presenting works of art by the Polish artist and German artist - Tobias Stengel.

In turn, Jakub Zarzycki, art historian and Polish philologist, assistant professor at the Institute of Art History of the University of Wrocław, will go to Rome for a networking trip, where on October 20-22 an international scientific conference Polish-Italian artistic contacts 1871-1939 is organized. As a conference participant, he will present a paper in Italian entitled Italiani immaginati. Studio sull'iconosferapolacca 1871-1914 - pittura, grafica artistica, riviste illustrate (Italiani immaginati. Study of the Polish iconosphere in the years 1871-1914 - painting, artistic graphics, illustrated magazines), which will be published in Italian. The trip will be an opportunity to establish contacts with Italian researchers participating in the event.
