Autor: Culture Zone Wrocław

Cooperation network of European Capitals of Culture – previous, current and candidate ones – usually results in exchanges and study visits for the representatives of local creative environments. AIR Wro consist of, among others, study visits for cultural operators from Wrocław and Lower Silesia. One of them will be organised in Danish Aarhus, a city that celebrated the title of the European Capital of Culture in 2017 together with Paphos in Cyprus. Thanks to the cooperation with AABKC (Aarhus Billedkunstcenter) and the Danish Cultural Institute in Warsaw, we will host Sophia Ioannou Gjerding in Wrocław in December 2018. During her visit, she will focus on the research related to the World Congress of Intellectuals in Defense of Peace organised in 1948. On the other hand, Dominika Kluszczyk – curator, manager and producer working at the WRO Art Center and IP Group – will go on a study visit to Aarhus.

AABKC

AABKC (Aarhus Billedkunstcenter) is an artist resource centre serving visual artists in Denmark’s Central Jutland region. Based in Aarhus, AABKC strengthens the local arts community by creating opportunities for networking and collaboration between artists, arts institutions, and businesses. Offering counselling and professional development services to emerging and established artists. Facilitating discourse and community outreach with conferences and public art events. Aiming to improve local artists’ working conditions. Administering and advising on international work and residency opportunities for local artists, such as Tækker AIR Berlin. Facilitating courses and workshops. Aarhus Centre for Visual Art operates within Godsbanen, a cultural production centre that houses a large number of cultural agents and producers including visual artists, writers, performers and designers.

Danish Cultural Institute

Danish Cultural Institute is a self-governing institution. Since 1940 we have been engaged in fostering mutual understanding.
