One of the most important competences of the Culture Zone Wrocław institution is the support of authors and producers creating a cultural offer in our city. The aim of the Culture Practitioners programme is to raise the competence of people representing the non-governmental sector and institutions, as well as individuals working independently, in the field of project management, programming, fundraising and crowdsourcing, developing and researching relationships with participants, and in improving the level of communication between different cultural initiatives. The formula of the Culture Practitioners is based on workshop activities, laboratories and cultural research, conferences and open creative sessions, and, above all, on networking and transferring the knowledge according to the approach "from theory to practice". The programme's objective is to prepare the creators of culture to respond to the needs of the recipients, to co-create places dedicated to culture and to develop networks of cooperation between cultural actors at the local, national and international levels.
One of the key activities within the Culture Practitioners programme is the "City and Culture" conference – an annual meeting of theoreticians and cultural practitioners who want to learn new ways of researching the sector and who need new tools to deepen their knowledge of the professional environment, with special focus on cultural project management. The conference presents a space for observing the latest trends in CCI, a platform for reflection on participation in culture, on the condition of its creators, cooperation between institutions, the non-governmental sector and a broadly defined independent scene, as well as the city-shaping role of culture, which remains the center of our interest. Presentations and meetings with experts in the subject of trends in culture, a series of workshops on the study of culture and cooperation between local and international operators, as well as an open debate dedicated to the future of cultural management Poland will take place in Wroclaw on 18-19 October 2018 (in Barbara, Świdnicka 8B and Reception, Ruska 46).
International activities within the framework of the Culture Practitioners are focused around cooperation with cultural managers from Wrocław’s partner city – Lviv. The idea of "LWOWRO" is to meet and exchange knowledge, competences and experiences between Polish and Ukrainian managers. The project combines the needs of cultural staff in the theoretical and practical areas through a series of workshops, meetings with experts and activists from the cultural sector – all in the form of a series of study visits for the new generation of cultural workers from Lviv and Wrocław.
The year-round process related to the Culture Practitioners is a series of workshops for managers, curators, researchers, promoters and cultural operators. These meetings are aimed at introducing the subject of cultural research on the example of four reports prepared by the Institute of Sociology at the University of Wrocław as part of the evaluation process of the European Capital of Culture in Wrocław. During each workshop, the participants will get acquainted with the context of evaluation in a given subject area, and then, with the use of tools proposed by experts, they will learn the practical application of the data presented in the reports.
