In mid-September Diana Felber (Chemnitz) will take part in the monthly residency project AIR Modernism. The architect of German origin is a member of Architectural Collective Leipzig. Since 2015, she has been teaching architecture and urban design at several universities, e.g. TU Braunschweig and TU Dresden. In her research she is focussing on housing typology in the 20th century and the architecture of the Eastern Bloc. She is also an active member of the contemporary art collective (Kunstverein) KV – Verein für zeitgenössische Kunst Leipzig.
Taking part in the international project AIR Modernism, she decided to focus her research on the profiles of female architects from Wroclaw, Tbilisi and Chemnitz between 1945 and 1990. During her one-month stay in Wroclaw, Diana is particularly interested in women who were involved in outstanding visionary projects between 1945 and 1989. Apart from the quite famous Jadwiga Grabowska-Hawrylak, they include Krystyna Barska, Ewa Dziekońska, Maria Molicka, Anna Tarnawska and Maria Tawryczewska. The resident will use her stay in the capital of Lower Silesia to document the development of the aforementioned designers, as well as to establish contacts with scientists and activists.
On October 14th there will be a meeting with the participants of the AIR Modernism residency which is a summary of their research on Wroclaw modernism. The event will officially end the stay of foreign residents in Wroclaw. Artist talk will start at 6pm in Fandom, 6 Grunwaldzki Square.
