Małgorzata Maternik [Culture of Mobility 5.0]

Year of birth: 1989 Field: Ceramics City: Yanggu

Małgorzata Maternik's residence at Yanggu Porcelain Musem in South Korea is a unique opportunity to expand her knowledge of porcelain firing methods, and in particular of the technique that preserves the light colour of the mass. Maternik plans to use the knowledge acquired in Yanggu in the realization of Victorian-inspired works. Research into the Museum's collection of objects, especially those with cobalt elements, used by local ceramists between the 18th-20th century, will also enable her to study another technique, popular in East Asia, which has given rise to European ceramic products in a similar style. During the residency, Maternik also plans to create ceramic works, which are a continuation of her present creative practice.
