Orangery

Field: Glass design City: Wrocław

Anne-Claude Jeitz and Alain Calliste met over ten years ago in south-west France, where they connected over their passion for glass. Sharing their time between France and Luxembourg, they created a studio, where they can experiment in forming the glass on the burner, melting and casting it in a furnace, and blowing in blast furnace. Th April 2016 they came to Wrocław for the special invitation from Barbara Idzikowska – a graduate of Faculty of Ceramics and Glass at the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wroclaw, an artist and the founder of “Atelier Si, Pb…”, that she created together with Eugeniusz Get-Stankiewicz with the purpose of artistic exchanges in mind.

The three months long residency resulted in the art work consisting of twenty-eight handmade glass sculptures presenting orange divided into pieces, prepared by the artists in cooperation with students and graduates of the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wroclaw.

The three glaziers worked together on the installation titled “Orangery”, that premiered during 9th Festival of High Temperatures at the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wroclaw. The multimedia aspect of the installation was conducted by Jakub Lech, a member of IP Group, who used projectors and light to present the glass object in a new perspective. “Orangery” was later exhibited at the “Former Mine” Science and Art Centre in Wałbrzych and at the Kinneksbond centre in Luxembourg.
