We’re sharing culture! Soon our activities will become a part of the programmes of two institutions - the newly established Wrocław Institute of Culture and the refreshed formula of the Culture Zone Wrocław.
From February 1st the activities of Neighbouring will be a part of the Wrocław Institute of Culture programme, which will deal with the development of social, animation, research and competence projects of local, national and international range.
“Neighbouring” is a programme of animation activities in Wrocław’s backyards and a continuation of the “Wrocław – Backyard Door” project, carried out as part of the European Capital of Culture Wrocław 2016 programme.
"Wrocław – Backyard Door” programme resulted in a successful implementation of more than 30 projects in the spaces Wrocław’s backyards, as well as several permanent installations, which we try to transform into small centres of local cultural activity. We would like to invite local partners who, in cooperation with the residents, organise activities in the backyards. Backyard concerts, events, walks in the forgotten or unknown parts in the city, film screenings with live music, workshops and performances are just some of the most intensive activities carried out in 2017 in Ołbin, Brochów and Przedmieście Oławskie, as well as other neighbourhoods. Residents can also implement some of their own ideas regarding their immediate surroundings with the help of experienced animators.
The “Neighbouring” programme focused on local activities with a scope limited to local communities. Its aim is to activate the residents by offering them a cultural offer, which comes to them – to their own backyard. In the project, meeting and getting to know each other during workshops, walks or film screenings, and thus pointing out the possibility of implementing their own initiatives on the basis of cooperation with neighbours is just as important as the activities themselves.
The “Neighbouring” project constitutes a part of activities of the Culture Zone Wrocław and is financed from the funds of the City of Wrocław.
