The third edition of the “City and Culture” conference was held from the 17th until the 18th of October 2019 as a result of cooperation between the Culture Zone Wrocław and the Jerzy Grotowski Institute in Wrocław at the BAKERY Centre for Performing Arts. The theme of the third edition was ALTERNATIVE.
We analyzed the conference’s motto in the context of four main issues: the organization of the cultural sector, looking at it from the perspective of social cooperatives, social cooperatives and collectives acting independently; the space, i.e. the venue for activities of grassroots initiatives; the funds that grassroots movements need to gain for their activities (but also barter or shared economy culture); and communication – creating stories about our activities using innovative tools and channels.
As part of the third edition of “Cities and Culture” we delivered: two expert lectures, three discussion panels on self-organization, financing and functioning of the cultural market; five presentations on the results of research into the field of culture in Poland; four workshops addressed to representatives of the sector; and one music showcase.
