Raisa Álava: Do it yourself! Do it Basque-style!

Autor: Culture Zone Wrocław

Can you design one page in a minute? According to Raisa Álava, all you need is your imagination! In June, we invite you to workshops on creating comic books, zines and art books, which are addressed especially to those who are just beginning to take their first steps in this field. During the two days, the artist will present various examples of authorial publications, help to write a script, illustrate and create a cover.

On the first day, the group will work on the preparation of the script and the design of their own original publication. Everyone will try to make a zine in an hour. Based on the needs and ideas of the participants, the group will also learn how to present such publications and other techniques of their realization. On the second day, the group will work on the cover using screen printing. The participants will be able to create their own design or use the one that the workshop leader will make especially for them.

We invite not only adults but also young people from 14 years and older to participate in the workshops. It does not matter whether you draw or not. The workshops are meant to help you get rid of your design concerns by teaching you how to prepare your own publication in a simple way.

The workshops will be conducted jointly by Álava and Wrocław-based Ewa Głowacka, therefore the knowledge of English is important, but the communicative level is sufficient. The workshops are free of charge. You can register via e-mail at airwro@strefakultury.pl. The number of participants is limited. Workshops are addressed to individuals aged 14 and above.

The number of places is limited. Workshops are for people aged 14 and over.
