Wroclaw Cultural

Dear readers, welcome in May!  We are just a few days away from summer and that makes us more keen on being active. This is why, in this issue, we decided to talk about walks and trips (cultural ones, obviously). Before the temperatures start to exceed 30 degrees, let’s take a walk around Brochów, Ołbin, and Kleczków to see what kind of initiatives organised as a part of the Neighbouring programme are waiting for us.

For those who know these areas inside out, we have prepared a text about the frontiers of Wrocław: Kozanów, Pilczyce, and Pracze Odrzańskie. And for those who would like to go on a trip outside the city, we recommend Sokołowsko, an idyllic village in the mountains.

Taking a night walk on Saturday, 19th May, is an exceptionally good idea: over 80 institutions have prepared a special programme for the Night of Museums. That day, a new place on the cultural map of Wrocław – Reception located in the backyard full of neon signs at Ruska 46, will also have its opening. Due to that fact, we are looking at history of a few iconic neon signs hanging in this outdoor gallery.

Of course, we have prepared much more for you. In the journalistic section, you will find interviews with, among others, Artur Liebhart – a creator and director of the Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival, who we talk to about the programme of this year’s edition of the event; Marek Stanielewicz – a friend of Eugeniusz Get Stankiewicz and a curator of Engraver’s House talks about Get who would celebrate his 76th birthday on 19th May; and Mateusz … – a creator of an Instagram project called Type of Wrocław who we talk about the most interesting typefaces in various spots of Wrocław.

Attention: the cultural abundance is upon us – find all the details in the calendar of events. Have a nice read!
