October issue of “Wrocław Cultural Guide”

Already in early spring, when the coronavirus forced the event organizers (and the rest of the world) to suddenly revise both their immediate and further plans, it was predicted that if the second wave of the pandemic did not lock us back home, we would be in for a very cultural autumn.

Everything indicates that the moment that was announced then has just come. October is filled to the brim with festivals and reviews, exhibitions and concerts, performances and film screenings – both those traditionally held in autumn and those originally scheduled to take place in April or May. More than 120 of them can be found in our October calemdar of events.

The next month is a perfect time for all kinds of bookworms – in Wrocław, which has the honorable title of UNESCO City of Literature, readers will have chance to take part in a Nobel week, Bruno Schulz. Festival, Silesius International Poetry Festival… And this is just the beginning! Music lovers are in no worse situation: they should reserve time for the 56th Jazz on the Odra Festival, this year focused especially on the prestigious Jazz Personality Contest, as well as the jubilee, tenth edition of the Eklektik Session. Architecture and city tourism enthusiasts will also not be bored: not only the organizers of the OUT OF STH International Outdoor Art Festival, but also the upcoming edition of the festival of films about the city and architecture of MIASTOmovie will be encouraging us to go out and explore the city.

However, if epidemic statistics or rain outside the window make you want to stay at home instead of ticking off the events from our schedule, then it is still worth having a copy of the The Guide” at your disposal. A fragment of Michał Zygmunt’s new novel Blood and Honor (which we publish in the “Long story short” section) and the page of riddles fit the longer and longer autumn evenings like a glove. We wish you a cultural October!
