“POLISH SOUNDSCAPES” is a comprehensive sound exhibition of Polish artists who produce and work with field recordings, which after several previous editions, is presented at the WRO Art Center in a brand new version. The project, curated by Marcin Barski and Marcin Dymiter, focuses on the issue of the soundscape as a phenomenon characteristic of a given space, inevitable result of architecture, human activity and geographical location.
In the context of the “POLISH SOUNDSCAPES” exhibition, a presentation of the results of the artistic residency of Basque Amaia Vicente takes place. In the period from September to November, the artist makes field recordings in Wrocław based on a binaural sound recording system, with simultaneous marking the geolocation of sources. Her activities in Wrocław serve to develop the methodology developed for the artist’s PhD at the University of the Basque Country in “Art and Technology” Department.
The opening of the “POLISH SOUNDSCAPES” exhibition will be held at the WRO Art Center on the 21.11.2018. The evening will begin with a curatorial walk (6 P.M.) and it will be followed by a live act of Czarny Latawiec – based on the material he gathered during his field recording sessions (7:30 P.M.). Additionally to the main programme of the exhibition, there will be workshops, lectures performances and guided tours organised – the detailed programme is available via the website of the WRO Art Center.
