Wrocław Cultural Guide for March is now available

In theory, March ends winter and brings in the coming of spring… but in reality, we aren’t going to notice this change. Regardless of any changes – or lack thereof – the “Guide” is here as always, presenting the spectrum of Wrocław culture for the young and the old.

What’s up in theatre? In a nutshell – preparations for the 41st edition of the Stage Songs Review, presented in this issue by its artistic director Cezary Studniak, as well as a premiere of a play for children at the Wrocław Puppet Theatre. How about literature? We’re celebrating the 60th birthday of poet and novelist Yurii Andrukhovych. And it is no accident that the celebrations will take place in Wrocław over the course of two days. Children? They will be able to enjoy the “Gingerbread House” Fairy Tale Writers’ Festival. We will also take a closer look at visual arts through the eyes of Daria Pietryka, an artist who makes her debut in the “Guide” as a columnist this month. Film is also well-represented this month – we delve deeper into the programme of the Hands up! Rebellion in the cinema of V4 countries review, we are waiting for the March release of Lech Majewski’s Valley of the Gods, which was shot in Lower Silesia, we also have a true gem prepared by the author of Tajemniczy Wrocław blog and fanpage – a digitally coloured photograph of the Tautenzien-Theater from 1939 – one of dozens of cinemas operating in pre-war Breslau. If you are a fan of Ugly Wrocław – don’t despair! Both columns will be featured every other month.

These and all other areas of culture will be thematically represented during the Wrocław Culture Congress. Read the interview with the organisers to learn more about the event, the Wrocław Culture Council, whose members will be elected during the Congress, as well as its aims and objectives.
