Natalia Pośnik

"How not to fight with the city?"

Year of birth: 1996 Field: Fotografia City: Valletta

Natalia Pośnik's passion for analogue photography formed beginnings of new challenges and indicated a further direction in this area. While studying at the Faculty of Architecture of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology, Natalia carried out deep analysis of the personal means of expression, which gave birth to her new form of self-expression: photography.

Analog photography is a medium by which Pośnik perceives reality and accepts it in her own surrealistic way. Photographs are marked by a strong emotional connection between time, place and action. It is often perceived as individual and intimate.

While travelling across Europe in 2016-2018, she discovered basics of her inspiration. She observed an impact of her earlier architectural interests on her photographs, synthesizing these both areas. This has resulted in a new interesting view on the reality surrounding her, which enriched her pictures with additional analysis of places, while respecting the context, giving multifaceted character. The Artist draws other inspirations from simple needs like an interaction with people, which became the main source of photographic exploration. Pośnik does not want to change the perception of reality but marks its authenticity. Photographs which are extremely close to her heart are the ones taken by Wojciech Plewiński and Wojciech Zamecznik.

During the residency, Natalia Pośnik will carry out the project "How not to fight with the city?". Based on city observations in specific and selected locations in terms of function, character and time, she will bring off a photographic description of the local community. Furthermore, Natalia will find out if the city somehow limits an individual's effort to develop. In artist's expectations presented photos will show habitant's natural routine, connected to city-standards. Natalia will participate in cultural events in order to make international connections with artists, exchange experience and understand the point of view of social change.
